Male Celebs Who Have Undergone Plastic Surgery

The common misconception of plastic surgery is centered around the recognition of nose jobs, tummy tucks, and breast implants. That’s the association a man terms with plastic surgery – bigger breasts, thinner noses, and skinnier waists. This could be the reason why some men turn their noses away from cosmetic upgrades.

However, you’d be surprised at the number of men dabble in the art of plastic surgery. As a matter of fact, some of entertainment’s biggest male stars have gone under the knife and needle for a little enhancement. Some of the manliest of men have retouched faces. Let’s take a look at the male celebrities who have undergone plastic surgery.

Bruce Jenner

Keeping Up With The Kardashians wouldn’t be a hit without former Olympic athlete and father, Bruce Jenner, in the mix. From taking a gold medal in the decathlon of the 1976 Olympic games in Montreal to striking up fame in the form of a reality show, Bruce Jenner has become a household name.

Bruce is also not ashamed to admit that he has undergone plastic surgery. In fact, in 1984, Jenner went under the knife for a nose job and a partial facelift. 25 years later, Bruce Jenner underwent cosmetic corrections from a ‘botched’ facelift. Olympic gold medalist turned reality show star, Jenner is a man of cosmetic improvement.

Mickey Rourke

Mickey Rourke is an American actor in many drama, action, and thriller hits such as The Expandables 2, The Wrestler, and Sin City. Beginning his career as an amateur boxer in Hollywood, Rourke gave that up after doctors warned him about neurological problems if he continued. Transitioning from the ring to the movie screen, Mickey Rourke is one that tends not to disappoint.

In 1991, after terminating his boxing career, Rourke went on the table to undergo corrective plastic surgery after injuries from boxing matches became an issue to him. According to sources, Rourke has since received a facelift, eyelid lift, and hair transplants. In an attempt to keep his young, fresh appearance, Rourke isn’t doing that bad of a job.

Simon Cowell

The British invasion came to America in the form of Simon Cowell. Developing and producing hit shows such as American Idol, The X-Factor, and America’s Got Talent, Cowell has captivated the entertainment industry and has become a huge name in music from his scouting talents alone.

While many aspiring talents fear the wrath of his judgment, Cowell isn’t afraid of a cosmetic procedure. While he says he hasn’t had too much work done, he’s dabbled in the practice of Botox procedures. In fact, Simon Cowell even gives Botox procedures as gifts to his friends! There have been rumors of Cowell getting a facelift, but it looks like that rumor isn’t getting a ticket to Hollywood.

Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester Stallone is a definitive ‘man’s man’. Playing the iconic role of Rocky in the sequenced boxing films, Stallone has made a name for himself with a bad-to-the-bone, not-to-be-messed-with persona.

Stallone is not ashamed to say that he’s had work done. In fact, he actually has a legitimate excuse. His birthing doctor used forceps in the delivery of the star, which resulted in nerve damage to the left side of his face. He has undergone cosmetic surgery to correct those issues. When he got the role of Rocky Balboa, Stallone lost a lot of weight to appear as an active boxer. As a result, Stallone’s face began to sag. So, he had a partial facelift on his left side for correction. There is a rumored forehead lift, but who’s going to ask him if it’s true? Remember, he is Rocky!

Kenny Rogers

Country crooner, Kenny Rogers, made swift success with such hits as “Islands in The Stream” and “The Gambler”. As an inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame and one of the highest selling artists ever (with 165 million albums sold), Rogers has made his name as one of the biggest influences to the future of country music.

Rogers has opened up about his cosmetic procedures, telling People magazine in 2006 about his botched eyelid lift that took away his ‘seductive’ look. He also received cosmetic upgrades in a facelift and Botox injections. He once joked that he underwent surgery to balance the age of his wife, who is much younger than him.

Wayne Newton

Mr. Entertainment, Mr. Las Vegas, The Midnight Idol. These are the nicknames of the one and only, Wayne Newton. A Vegas native, Newton grew to fame in 1972 with his hit song “Daddy, Don’t Walk Too Fast”, which peaked #4 on the charts. Since then, he has become a Las Vega hit, coining him with the above nicknames. He has made cameo appearances in popular shows and films like The Hangover.

Making its way along with Wayne Newton on the Vegas strip is his list of cosmetic procedures in an attempt to maintain and improve his look. Newton has undergone a brow lift, facelifts, a nose job, jaw line surgery, and plenty of Botox. A music and entertainment sensation, Wayne Newton is the epitome of Vegas.

Jermaine Jackson

Jermaine Jackson, brother of the late icon, Michael Jackson, was a member of the former Jackson 5, with hits including “ABC” and “I’ll Be There”. Working as a solo producer, he has helped produced with the late Whitney Houston in her early years.

Jermaine, along with the rest of his family, isn’t afraid of a little… TLC – tender, love, and cosmetic surgery. Undergoing a nose job and skin alterations, Jackson makes it on the list of male celebrities with plastic surgery to enhance their look.

Barry Manilow

“At the copa (CO!) Copacabana…” Barry Manilow, singer of this successful hit, made his way to fame in the early 1970s. Manilow accomplished the feat of having five of his albums on the best-seller chart simultaneously. While he’s been a chart-topper and Vegas strip headliner, he’s most known for his writing capabilities. He has written commercial jingles for brands and companies, some of which are McDonald’s, Dr. Pepper, State Farm Insurance, and Band-aids. Selling 80 million albums worldwide, he is added to the list of the best-selling artists of all time.

While he denies his surgeries, experts in the field have discussed his changing look. They speculate an eyelid lift, upper and lower facelift, and Botox. Still, with or without surgery, Manilow is a music mogul.

Carrot Top

Funnyman, Carrot Top, is a household name as a comic and actor. Known for his prop comedy and satirical material, Carrot Top has appeared in numerous films, shows, and parodies including Scrubs, The Neighbors, Family Guy, and South Park.

Carrot Top, known personally as Scott Thompson, has undergone an amount of surgery, including an eyebrow lift and lip plumping. He has also undergone laser peels to remove freckles and Botox injections. Aside from cosmetic procedures, there is speculation that Carrot Top has dabbled into steroids, which can explain his recent fast-growing muscular physique.

Gene Simmons

Kiss bass guitarist and co-lead vocalist, how can one simply forget about Gene Simmons? Captivating the world with hits such as “Rock-n-Roll All Nite” and “Detroit Rock City”, Kiss was a hit. After a dismissal of the band in the early 1980s, the band reunited for the Kiss Alive/Worldwide/Reunion Tour, which became the top-grossing tour of 1996 and 1997. They have been named one of VH1’s “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock”, and in 2014, the band was an inductee into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame.

Since then, Gene Simmons has appeared on Ugly Betty, CSI: Miami, a voiceover on The Fairly OddParents, and as a guest judge on American Idol. On his reality show, Gene Simmons: Family Jewels, he hosted a televised surgery as Simmons and wife, Shannon Tweed, underwent his-and-her facelifts. He’s no stranger to plastic surgery.

There you have it. Some of the manliest of men have improved their look with a few incisions and injections. From Rocky Balboa to chart-topping, highest selling artists, cosmetic surgery isn’t only for women.

Plastic Surgery Tourism: From China to South Korea

Posted in Body Procedures, Breast Surgery Procedures, Face Surgery Procedures, Liposuction Procedures | January 21, 2015

Plastic surgery has been around for a while. It’s been around for so long that traces of its practice have been dated back to 3000 to 2500 BC. Reaching from states to countries and from countries to continents, cosmetic surgery can be performed anywhere. With experienced and highly skilled doctors in each country, you can literally get a procedure performed just about anywhere. However, in some places, like China, it may be little less likely to find patients going under the knife there.

Chinese plastic surgery clinics have been reported as being unhygienic and unclean. That may be a reason why many Chinese patients get their procedure outsourced to other countries, like South Korea.

As a matter of fact, South Korea has had a massive amount of Chinese tourists undergo surgery in their clinics. South Korea’s clinics have been noted for their hygiene, cleanliness, and professionalism. These are major reasons why Chinese frequent to South Korea.

South Korea: Eat, Sleep, and Get A Nip And Tuck

Cosmetic surgery is a must-do for Chinese tourists in South Korea. From minor surgeries like an eyelid lift to extreme procedures such as facial reconstruction, the Chinese guests have chosen South Korea as their surgical location.

The ubiquitous popularity of Chinese medical tourism has made South Korea the place to go for Chinese surgery. A little pricier than Chinese clinics, South Korean clinics offer a more hygienic and smoother operation in cosmetic procedures.

With much medical traffic from China, South Korea’s government has chosen to adapt to the growing industry.

How South Korea’s Government Adapts

With the amount of tourism in intentions of cosmetic surgery, the South Korean government has taken notice and adapted to the inbound traffic of Chinese patients. They have adapted so much so that the government sets aside an annual $4 million promotion plan to encourage the Chinese medical tourism industry.

In the Gangnam district of South Korea, plastic surgery clinics have adapted to the Chinese tourists looking for undergoing procedures that they even have signs in Chinese to draw them in. When one gets into the clinic, Korean to Chinese translators stand prepared for interpreting communications between the two languages.

Results in Chinese Medical Tourism

As a result of the widespread popularity of Chinese medical tourism, South Korean medical clinics gain notability in the form of studies. In fact, a study conducted by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported that South Korea has the highest rate of cosmetic surgery worldwide.

A procedure in South Korea can range from $900 to more than $15,000, depending upon the combination of plastic surgeries that are performed. For some, a simple procedure will do, but for many, while you’re there, you might as well go all out, right?

Effects of Medical Tourism

As sanitary and sterile as South Korean clinics can be, problems can still arise. As mentioned above, many Chinese tourists undergo surgeries in bulk since they are in the country for a short period of time. This can have a damaging effect on the patient if too much surgery has been performed. Too much surgery at one time can be dangerous for the patient.

There is a limit to plastic surgery procedures at one time, as your health becomes a factor in the outcome of operations. Though, approaching the borderline of the limit can start to have an effect on you at physical and emotional levels. From depression and stress to the length of time it takes for healing, these factors tie into the effects of plastic surgery.

Also, another factor is the operation of travel after conducting such change to your body. Those who have had a good amount of work done in South Korea may have to wait until they heal more before boarding the plane back home. Traveling could increase your risk of fails, damages, and complications of surgery.

In conclusion, Chinese tourism is most popular for cosmetic surgeries in South Korea. With cleaner, more sanitary, and sterile clinics for operating, South Korea becomes the highest rated country in the world for cosmetic procedures.
